DULLES, Va. – At the beginning of July, SkyLink USA completed the movement of a 15,000 kilo energy transformer for the rebuilding of the Baghdad Al-Doura power plant. An integral step for the improvement of Iraq’s utilities systems, the transformer will help provide over 1.5 million Iraqi citizens with additional electrical power.
“This took the teamwork of all of our company and logistic partners to ensure that the movement went smoothly and without delay,” said vice president of logistics Herman Kurapov. “Skylink USA specializes in this type of movement. It’s our mission to do ‘Difficult jobs in difficult places’ and we’re always up to the challenge.”
One of 29 operational power plants across Iraq, Al-Doura functions as the sole major power plant in Baghdad. The new energy transformer will augment the city’s grid by 280 megawatts per day.
