Dulles-Based SkyLink USA Aids Wildfire Greece Victims

DULLES, Va. – On September 5, SkyLink USA , together with its sibling company, SkyLink Italy, provided a jointly managed solution to transport 10,000 wool blankets and over 1,000 hygiene kits from Pisa, Italy to Athens, Greece. They delivered by truck the emergency relief commodities to assist those who have been affected by the devastating wildfires being fought by the government of Greece with support from the international community, including the United States. The United States Agency for International Development’s Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance awarded SkyLink the humanitarian relief cargo project.

“Widespread and catastrophic disasters, such as the wildfires in Greece, often exceed the capacity of local resources to contain and meet the disaster recovery needs in a timely manner. Since addressing the mobilization, logistics and transportation requirements to deal with events of this type is a core business focus for us, when called, SkyLink USA is ready,” said R. David Henze, SkyLink USA’s president and CEO. “And without a number of qualified and responsive providers standing by, the outcomes of such events would be even more calamitous.”

SkyLink USA, a privately held company located at the Washington Dulles International Airport, is among the world’s leading providers of logistics in unsecured and hostile environments, with specialties in transportation, end-to-end logistics, airport management, disaster relief and aviation support services. From humanitarian relief operations to critical support for peacekeeping in conflicted regions, SkyLink USA offers its services in rapid deployment situations and on a continuous basis. Affiliated with the SkyLink Group of Companies, SkyLink USA and its affiliates have over 27 years of international experience supporting operations in over 60 countries.
